These maps are based on Irish Townland Maps, the work of Patrick L. Doherty of the Derry Youth and Community Workship and employees of the Inner City Trust, with supervision by Brian Mitchell.
The OSI maps at Ask About Ireland have filled in information missing from Doherty's townland maps.
A recommended reference is A New Genealogical Atlas of Ireland, by Brian Mitchell. It divides up Cork into east, middle, and west sections.
See also the John Grenham (formerly Irish Times) maps of civil parishes, which uses a different division of Cork than that used in Mitchell's references : east Cork, northwest Cork, and west Cork.
West Cork Genealogy has nice maps of their own definition of West Cork.
