Instructions

Find the GPS coordinates of your submitted cemetery. The latitude is a positive number somewhere around the range 50 to 53. The longitude is a negative number somewhere around the range -10 to -7. The formatted coordinates start with the latitude, then a comma, then a space, then the longitude.

Google Maps

•• In a separate browser window, open Google Maps. Find your cemetery. Position the map so the cemetery you are submitting is about at the center of the page.
•• Click the + symbol to zoom in on the cemetery you are submitting. Watch the map URL and continue to click + until the zoom level is at least 17. The zoom level in the URL is a number followed by z, for example:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Cork, +Ireland/@51.8411383,-8.6336181,17z/da...
•• Click your mouse on the road as close as possible to the cemetery. A pin will appear, as in the illustration:

•• Right-click the pin. The GPS coordinates are the first item in the pop-up menu. Left-click the coordinates. They've been copied to your computer clipboard.
•• Paste the ready coordinates into the form field that says Paste formatted GPS coordinates here.

Bing Maps

The procedure is almost identical if using Bing Maps.

•• In a separate browser window, open Bing Maps. Find your cemetery, center it and click the + symbol to zoom in.
•• Right-click on the road as close as possible to the cemetery location.
•• At the bottom of the right-click popup menu, left-click the GPS coordinates, as shown in the illustration. They've been copied to your computer clipboard.

•• Paste the ready coordinates into the form field that says Paste formatted GPS coordinates here.

Accurate latitude and longitude are needed, and in an expected format. The procedures above show ways to obtain those coordinates.

Select the closest relevant district in the pull-down box.
Enter the name of the cemetery in the name field.
Enter the major roads / landmarks near the cemetery, whether the cemetery is C of I or RC, and other information you have. Greatly appreciated.
The Security Check is to prevent spam bots from attacking this website. Answer the questions then click SUBMIT.

If I cannot find the cemetery using Google satellite and street view with the submitted coordinates, the cemetery will NOT be added to the Cork Gen maps!
