1 - Ó Murchadha mentions "Totane" as a nickname for some Collinses. In this context, á tóiteáit meant "of the burning," possibly in conjunction with some fire-setting activities back around Tudor times.

Extracted from the registry of this consistorial court of the Diocese of Cloyne We Thomas G. French Esq. and Herbert O'Donnell Esqr commissioners duly appointed and sworn under and by virtue of an act made in the fourth year of the reign of King George the Fourth intitled an act to provide for the establishing of compositions for tithes in Ireland for a limited time to ascertain and give a true and just composition for all tithes arising growing yielded or payable within the parish of Clonmell. Diocese of Cloyne and County of Cork Do hereby certify that the true and just amount of composition for all tithese, whatever within said parish is three hundred pounds stg by the year and that two hundred pounds of said sum of three hundred pounds is due and payable to the Dean and Chapter of the Diocese of Cloyne and the remaining one hundred pounds of said three hundred pounds is due and payable to the Revd Charles Warburton Vicar of said parish as a composition for all tithes claimable by him as Rector and Vicar of said Parish, and we do further state and certify that the said sum of three hundred pounds by the year is to remain and contiue as the true and just amount of composition for all tithes within said parish without variation for twenty one years from the first day of November next ensuring the date hereof whatever the price of corn may be given under our hands this 25th day of October 1824 four
